Radioactivity analysis of naturally occurring minerals - using appts. over the mineral which detects secondary response to radioactivity

The equipment consists of a radioactive source (1) and a detector (2) which measures the secondary emission from the mineral sample (15). The source and detector are attached to a beam (3) which is rotated above the sample by means of an electric motor (11) so that the detector follows the path of the source over the sample after a specific time delay. The positions of the radioactive source and the detector on the beam can be adjusted radially and also tangentially so that the two are not necessarily diametrically opposed in their orbit above the sample.
