<p>The ornithopter aircraft comprises a frame-type fuselage with seating for a man. This person rotates a wheel (1,2) on each side of the fuselage, by means of foot-operated cranks (3,4). These wheels are used as landing gear and also operate the flapping wings, by means of a linkage (7,8) between each wheel and a wing. This link pushes the wings (11,12) up and down alternately, each wing being pivoted on the fuselage. The supporting surface of each wing comprises transverse flaps (13,14); pivoted to open on the upstroke and close on the downstroke.</p> |
