<p>The gas carries the powder through a tangential inlet into the top, cylindrical zone of the combustion chamber, which has a vertical axis. The cylindrical zone is on top of a conical zone, which tapers downwards towards an outlet. On the top surface of the combustion chamber is a circular row of holes, each contg. a plug. Some of the plugs are fitted with fuel injectors, the angles of which can be altered during the heating of the powder. In the pref. chamber, some of the plugs have ball joints so each injector can be swivelled to a desired angle w.r.t. the axis of the chamber; and the injectors can also be raised or lowered in their ball joints. There is uniform heating of the powder e.g. cement, in every part of the chamber, so no overheating occurs.</p> |
