The system has a dewatering machine (13) with a cylindrical housing (59). A tubular screen (77) extends between an inlet (49) at the bottom end and an outlet (82) at the top end of this cylindrical housing (59). A rotor (60) bearing a multiplicity of helical blades (66) is arranged coaxially with said tubular screen (77). Plastic particles and plastic film strips are thus dewatered during their upwards transport within the tubular screen after they have been cleaned in another system part. A fan wheel (79) mounted at the upper end of the rotor serves for discharging the dewatered material using air which can pass through openings (81) into the housing (59) in the vicinity of the fan wheel; blockage of the outlet (82) is thereby avoided. By means of this system, both pelletised material and films cut into strips or comminuted can be completely dewatered utilising the centrifugal force exerted by the rotor (60). <IMAGE>
