<p>ACCUMULATING ROLL CONVEYOR An accumulating roll conveyor comprising a plurality of rolls journaled between parallel longitudinally extending side frame members has roll shaft ends projecting beyond a common one of said side frame members with chain sprockets journaled on the projecting shaft ends for rotation relative thereto, a chain drive system is entrained over the sprockets for driving them, and a torque overload clutch means connects each sprocket to the shaft on which it is journaled with the torque transmitted from the sprocket to the shaft being provided by a radially compressible resilient element squeezable through a narrowed space between the sprocket and shaft upon predetermined resistance to rotation of the shaft and with such element being removable for replacement by an element of different resiliency to effect a change in the torque transmitted without disturbing the mounting of the roll between the side frame members.</p> |
