The relative spacing between structural elements such as on a cracked wall is determined by an electrical circuit which warns interested personnel of any danger. The warning is provided by visible or audible indicators. Probe elements (3) on units (4,5) on the two parts of a structure (1,2) detect spacing variations between them in either direction. The probes are powered from a low voltage electrical current supply (8) derived from the mains supply or from batteries and electrical circuits (9). Transducers (6) which can include amplifier or transformer circuits receive the spacing information and transmit it to signalling circuits (7). These circuits include electric lamps (10) and an audible alarm (12). Additional lamps (11) may be located in a grouped arrangement.
|
