Leakage detector for butane gas bottle - utilises indicator gas drawn across bottle into IR gas analyser

Leaks in bottles of liquified gas such as propane or butane are detected partic. in the area of the tap assembly. This is performed by use of an infra red analyser and an indicator gas. Gas bottles (B3) are placed on a conveyor (2) and moved to a leakage test station where a bell shaped assembly (18) fixed to a vertical jack shaft (20) is lowered onto the bottle. A supply tube (38) is attached to a source of indicator gas (39) via a distributor (40). A second inlet (43) is attached to the collar near the lower opening to communicate with an interval chamber (41). A flow limiter (46) controls flow in the supply tube (44). A series of breathers (48) communicate with a pump (51) and are connected toa gas analyser (50) where an infrared detector is coupled to an alarm indicator.
