<p>The lined IC engine exhaust duct is esp. for Diesel engines, specifically the duct portion between exhaust valve and manifold. The liner is tubular and lies clear of the duct wall. This liner has internal fins, pref. running parallel to the gas flow. The finned region pref. has electric heating elements fitted in the space between the liner and duct wall, pref. thermostatically controlled. Material acting catalytically in the oxidation of CH-containing noxious substances and particles is pref. used in the finned portion at least pref. as a surface coating.</p> |
