NEW MATERIAL:A 22C side-chain mixed dihydric alcohol of formula I (R is formula II, III, IV, V or VI). USE:A base for cosmetics and medicines, an intermediate for cosmetics, a raw material for external bases for medicines or synthetic lubricants, and solvents to penetrate drugs of medicines and cosmetics into the skin, with no irritation to the skin mucous membrane, stable to heat and light, and usable for creams, powder products, hair oils, ointments for eyes, etc. PROCESS:A 22C side-chain mixed dibasic acid of formula VII is reduced with a reducing agent, e.g. LiAlH4, to give a compound of formula I. |
