<p>Appts. for the identification and determination of antigenic biochemical substances by immuno-enzymological routes comprises a support made of inert material which is at least semi-rigid, and a reactive mass fixed to one part of the support. The reactive mass comprises a nylon gauze, on which an antigenic prepn. specific to the substance to be identified or determined is immobilised. Used for identification and determination of antigenic substances in biological fluids. Known methods are costly, time consuming (av. of 18-24 hrs to obtain results) and necessitate use of laboratory facilities. The present appts. allows rapid determinations using a portable kit. Typical substances which may be identified include deptide hormones, antibiotics, antibodies or pathogenic agents characteristic of human and animal illnesses due to viral, microbial or parasitic causes, such as hepatitis B, trypanosomiasis, leishmaniosis, toxoplasmosis etc.</p> |
