PURPOSE:To obtain methacrylonitrile economically in high yield, by reacting readily available and inexpensive tert-butanol with O2 and NH3 in the presence of a catalyst consisting of Mo, Bi, Sb and Ni mainly. CONSTITUTION:tert-Butanol obtained from the C4 cut of naphtha is subjected to ammoxidation in the presence of a specific catalyst, preferably having a composition of formula (A is at least one element selected from Na, K, Rb and Cs; a is 3-15; b is 1.5-15; c is 1-10; d is 0-5, e is 0.3-5; f is a number corresponding to an oxide formed by combination of the elements described above) at 300-500 deg.C to give methacrylonitrile. The catalyst can be obtained by drying and calcining a mixture of raw materials in a specific composition ratio. |
