<p>The substrate is made of (ig)noble metal, and is cleaned by shot blasting with fine corundum to form a rough surface with micro-cavities. The metal is not heated prior to being coated with a nickel aluminide powder applied e.g. by a flame spraying pistol and bonding to the substrate by microwelding. It was previously necessary to heat the metal substrate to flame spraying, but such preheating causes deformation of the substrate; the invention eliminates the need to heat the substrate prior to coating.</p> |
