PURPOSE:To provide a compact and low background practicable radioactivity monitoring apparatus by attaching a memory and a calculator thereto. CONSTITUTION:A memory 15 and a calculator 16 for calculating the attenuation of the radioactive levels of collectors 1a-1c upon respective movements of a turntable 2 and altering the content of the memory 15 are provided between a signal processor 11 and a controller 13. In this configuration, the radioactive level measured by the signal processor 11 is stored in the memory 15 for the respective collectors 1a-1c, and the content in the memory 15 is replaced with new radioactive level obtained by calculating the attenuation of the radioactive iodine for the respective collectors 1a, 1b... standing by the switching by the calculator 16 immediately before switching the collectors by the signal of a controller 13. Then, the calculator 16 compares the radioactive level of the collectors 1a, 1b... standing by the switching, selects those having less than reference background level, and then determines the collector to be used next. Accordingly, the number of the collectors stored is reduced, and the background is lowered.
