PURPOSE:To reduce the width of a screen feeder for an automatic laver making machine, and to facilitate the operation of the feeder, by transporting a screen-stack holder with conveyor chains attached to the bottom and the both sides of a U- shaped guide trough composed of a guiding bottom plate and two side plates fixed to a machine frame. CONSTITUTION:A set of chains 8, 9 which have the same pitch and ascend synchronizedly, are attached to the guides mounted to the side plates and the bottom plate of a U-shaped screen-lifting guide trough. A lifting plate 17 which can be lifted with a lever 19 is placed on a supporting plate 5 at the lower part of the trough. A screen stack is lifted with a screen-stack holder 22 having hooks at the side edges and the lower end, which are engaged with the moving chains 8 and 9. The trough is furnished with a guiding bottom plate having a rib which is brought into contact with the side edges of the screen-stack holder to keep a definite spacing between the holder and the bottom plate. The screen is fed one by one from the top of the feeder with a feeding arm 28. When the screen-stack holder 22 is lifted above the center of the feeder, a new screen stack 29' is charged to the lower part of the feeder, the lifting plate 17 is lifted with the lever 19, and the preceding holder 22 is pulled out to complete the charge of the screen stack. |
