<p>PURPOSE:To keep the freshness of vegetables and fruits during storage, by addition of an absorber using fluorocarbon to a CA refrigerator, by charging N2 produced from air by separating O2 in the absorber to the CA refrigerator, and by removing CO2 formed by stored substances. CONSTITUTION:When storage is started in a CA refrigerator 3, raw material air is fed to an absorber 1, where O2 is absorbed by a soln. of fluorocarbon, an absorbent, to form air of large N2 content, and the air is sent to the refrigerator 3. The air in the refrigerator 3 is discharged through a breather bag 15 and an exhaust valve 16, and is circulated to the absorber 1. After pull down of O2, stored vegetables and fruits produce CO2 by breathing, hence the air in the refrigerator 3 is circulated to the absorber 1, which is used as a CO2 scrubber, where CO2 is removed. O2 is replenished by charging a small quantity of air in order to keep O2, CO2 in the refrigerator 3 at constant % concn., hereby the system is simplified and the regenerating operation is made easy.</p> |
