<p>Polymers which contain free primary, secondary or tertiary amine groups or salts thereof and/or quaternary ammonium groups and which have good processability characteristics, are produced by reacting a polymer containing at least one hydroxyl group with an organic compound containing both an acidic and an amine group, the hydroxyl-containing polymer being selected from the group consisting of a partially hydrolyzed ethylenevinyl acetate copolymer having a vinyl acetate content between 30 and 50% by weight and polyvinyl alcohol, the organic compound being selected from the group consisting of:a) , wherein R, R' are H or alkyl and R" is (-CH2)n, being 1 or 2;b) carboxylic acids of heterocyclic compounds containing one nitrogen atom; andc) chlorides-hydrochlorides of acids, having the formula: wherein R, R' are H or alkyl and R" is (-CH2)n, n being an integer between 1 and 5.</p> |
