This invention relates to a process for the preparation of substituted aromatic amines, which process is particularly simple and selective, and to some novel compounds produced by this process. The compounds according to the invention are of great interest in the field of "fine chemicals" and, particularly, in the field of dyestuffs, as they are basic intermediate products for their synthesis. These compounds are covered by the general formula: wherein R3 and R4 both are alkylradical, optionally substituted.
