<p>- Trioirganotin compounds of the general formula or effectively control fungi an various types insects when incorporated into formulations that are applied directly to these organisms or to substrates, particularly plants, that are susceptible to infestation with these types of organisms. The present compounds are particularly advantageous due to their considerably lower phytotoxicity relative to homologous triorfanotin compounds wherein the hydrocarbon radicals are linear and contain from 5 to 7 carbon atoms. In the foregoing formulae R is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl containing from 1 to 3 carbon atoms, n is 0, 1 or 2, X is selected from the group consisting of chlorine, bromine, fluorine, hydroxyl, nitrate, cyanate, thiocyanate, carbamate, thiocarbamate, nitrate, carboxylate , phenoxy, alkoxy (-OR2), dithiocarbamoyl , mercaptide(-SR1) and dialkyldithiophosphate wherein R1 represents alkyl containing from 1 to 12 carbon atoms wherein Z is hydrogen, halogen, 1-3 carbon alkyl, 1-3 carbon alkoxy or nitro (-NO2), R1 is alkyl containing from 1 to 12 carbon atoms and Y is oxygen, , wherein m is an integer from 2 to 10, inclusive, sulfur, sulfate or carbonate.</p> |
