Oxazoline reaction products of C8-C49 hydrocarbon-substituted unsaturated C4-C10 dicarboxylic acids, esters, or anhydrides, for example octadecenylsuccinic anhydride, with 2,2-disubstituted-2-amino-1-alkanols, such as tria-hyfroxymethylaminomethane (THAM), and their derivatives are useful additives in olesginous compositions, such as sludge dispersants for lubricating oil or ani-rust agents for gasoline.
