PURPOSE:To obtain an aldehyde in high yield, with suppressed side-reactions, by the hydroformylation of an olefin in the presence of a Pt-phosphine complex and a compound of Sn and an element of the VI-B group of the periodical table. CONSTITUTION:An aldehyde is prepared by the catalytic hydroformylation of an olefin with H2 and CO in the presence of a catalyst of a Pt-phosphine complex and a cocatalyst of a compound of formula SnMm (M is element of the VI-B group of the periodical table; m=1, 2). The above cocatalyst is preferably SnO or SnS and its amount is generally <=50 atoms of Sn, preferably 0.5-20 atoms, per one Pt atom. The Pt-phosphine complex comprises preferably Pt and the 1-coordinative or 2-coordinative tertiary phosphine. This complex may be formed during the reaction. The reaction temp. is 40-200 deg.C. |
