PURPOSE:To reduce the thickness of the fixing roll of the fixing device and simultaneously eliminate inconveniences such as the unevenness of temperature distribution and the offsetting of toner images onto the fixing roll owing to the reduction in thickness by improving the pressing system of the fixing roll of the fixing device. CONSTITUTION:A fixing roll 1 of thin-walled cylindrical form is formed by stainless steel of, for example, 0.25mm. thick and a heater 9 is provided therein. Pressure- driving rolls 5, 7 are held pressure-contacted by way of the fixing roll under pressure of 4-5kg/cm<2> and are so arranged as to be revolved by the driving mechanisms not illustrated. Further, the pressing region is so shielded by a reflecting plate 10 that the direct application of the heat of the heater 9 is avoided. In this way, high pressing force is obtainable by the thin-walled fixing roll and the fixing roll may be heated in a short time after turning on of an electric power source, thus the offsetting to the fixing roll may be surely prevented even without coating of release oil. |
