PURPOSE:To lengthen the life of assembled elements by putting them between battery jar units which have either H- or -form cross sections and connecting these with the pressure on both sides across the thickness of the assembled elements. CONSTITUTION:An assembled element 1 is made by laminating one pasted positive plate and one negative plate alternately with a separator made of glass mat between each. The assembled element 1 and a unit 2 that has a H-form cross section and a unit 3 that has a -form cross section are arranged so that the both sides are occupied by the unit 3, thus making the arrangement of unit 3-assembled element 1- unit 2-assembled element 1-unit 2-assembled element 1-unit 3. Following that, all the assembled elements are compressed from the both sides across the thickness of them to the point that the joining sections of the units contact, and after this, the sections between the units are connected by means of welding or adhesion. With this constitution, assembled elements which have the tough internal pressure of 40- 120kg/dm<2> are easily obtainable, thereby making it possible to prevent softening and falling off of active materials in positive electrodes. |
