PURPOSE:To prevent a furnace from being damaged and make the furnace operation stably and continuously by a method wherein an oxygen supply lance is immersed into a molten iron bath from an upper portion of a converter to combine advantages of a top and a bottom blown methods. CONSTITUTION:In case of refining cast iron to steel, as a furnace body 1 and a sub- lance 2, conventional ones of a pure oxygen top blown converter process are used and a stroke of an oxygen lance 3 is extended to immerse the leading end thereof into an molten iron bath and oxygen is supplied into said molten iron bath. Accordingly, a FeO amount within a slag bath is reduced, a simultaneous hit ratio of temp. and a component and a steel making yield are high, a furnace life is extended as well as a refractories basic unit is reduced. |
