Antihypertensive benzodioxinyl hydroxy:ethyl piperidinyl indolone(s) - prepd. from a piperidinyl indolone and an oxiranyl benzodioxin

Erythro benzodioxinyl piperidinyl indolinones of formula (I), and their hydrochlorides, in their racemic and optically active forms, are new. (Where either R1 is H and R2 is methyl, or R1 is methoxy and R2 is H). (I) may be prepd. by reacting an appropriate indolone with a cpd. (III), to form (IV), followed by debenzylation and reaction with the appropriate epoxy benzodioxinyl. (I) may be given orally or parenterally in conventional formulations, the oral daily doses for an adult being 0.10-2g.
