Tread pattern for a snow tyre features discrete tread blocks of varying proportions such that over 3/4 of the tread zone, the ratio of solid/relieved surface area is in the range 0.8-1.2, but over the remaining 1/4 of the tread width, in zones along the edges of the tread, the solid/relieved surface area ratio lies in the range 2.5-3. Combines the grip offered by low solid/relieved surface area ratio over most of the tread width with a reduced tread wear rate when running on hard surfaces, due to increased support by the tread borders.
|
