PURPOSE:To enable the storage and transportation of chlorine dioxide by a simple means by putting silicone rubber in a closable vessel having a gas- introducing and discharging opening. CONSTITUTION:This tool 1 for occluding chlorine dioxide gas is composed of a vessel 2 closable as a whole and having one or more openings 4 for the introduction and discharge of gas and pieces of silicone rubber 8 charged in the vessel 2. The size and shape of the silicone rubber piece are preferably selected to increase the surface area to enable the occlusion of increased amount of chlorine dioxide per unit weight of the silicone rubber within a definite time. Accordingly, the silicone rubber is preferably a small (fine) pieces, more preferably about 0.1-5mm cubes on an average from practical viewpoint, especially about 1-2mm cubes on an average. The amount of the silicone rubber per unit volume of the vessel is properly determined taking consideration of the volume of chlorine dioxide gas to be occluded. |
