PURPOSE:To obtain the subject cells with high viability and low level damage and death during their freezing or lyophilizing process, by adding, as a protective agent, partial hydrolyzates of the polysaccharides in devil's tongue powder to a dispersion of lactobacillery cells. CONSTITUTION:Partial hydrolyzates of the polysaccharides in devil's tongue powder are added at >=0.5 (pref. 2-10)wt.% to a dispersion of lactobacillary cells followed by homogeneous mixing and then freezing or lyophilization. The average molecular weight of the partial hydrolyzates is pref. 2000-15000 dalton or so. |
