<p>A shedding mechanism comprises a drive wheel with an elongated boss on which is mounted an eccentric whose transverse displacement operates the lift levers via a connecting rod in the end of which the eccentric is rotatably housed. Between drive wheel and eccentric is an axially slidable clutch plate with dogs which project to both sides, whereby in one end position the dogs engage coincident apertures in drive wheel and eccentric, and in the other end position they engage with eccentric with the stationary connecting rod. The construction is simple and inexpensive, and permits selection to be commenced before completion of the shaft movement for the previous pick, ensuring accurate selection at high operating speeds. The drive shaft may be intermittently driven, permitting back-picking for correction of errors.</p> |
