The proposed circuit modulates the amplifier power supply voltage such that an increased amplification of both positive and negative signals is obtained without exceeding the permitted potential difference across the amplifier supply terminals (E1,E2). The latter of an operational amplifier (OV) are connected through trimming resistors (R4,R5) to a supply source (earth,-48V). The terminals are also connected via equal capacitors (C1,C2) to the output (A2) of a second amplifier stage (B). With no input signal to the inverting terminal of the amplifier (OV) the supply voltage on each terminal is equal and opposite. An alternating signal on the input causes an alternating output. The junction (E3) of the capacitors follows the output thereby modulating the power supply voltage in phase with the output to increase the voltage amplification. To protect the amplifier it is desirable to connect voltage limiting Zener diodes (Z1,Z2) across the supply terminals and the capacitors' junction.
|
