The pressure-reduction valve is for liquids at high temperature and pressure, and has a wide range of adjustment. A cylindrical housing has side inlet and outlet branches, together with a spindle, a conical plug for complete shut-off, and a control plunger movable axially below the plug and forming a multi-stage cascade throttle slide. The latter is guided in a bush with cylindrical recesses masked by its control edges, and comprises a central column with peripheral throttle chambers and a sleeve with throttle bores. The shape and dimensions of internal annular chambers (17) are symmetrical in relation to the intermediate wall (19) and the outer chambers (16). The bores (20) in the wall upstream of the inner chambers are in rows forming rings of holes. On the downstream side the bores (21) are of larger diameter and in a single row.
