<p>A collecting device for oil slicks on surface waters includes at least one drag chain which floats on edge and is held together by a drag line. The links of the chain have a rhomboid cross-section and are stepped on different sides at both ends. Each link contacts the preceding link by a triangular projection on a step which touches the flat centre of a step with two side chamfers. The outer contours of each link are circular at one end and flat in the centre with two side chamfers at the other end. When used as two splayed out arms at the bow of an oil collecting barge, such a chain can follow even heavy sea movements to act as a reliable barrier for guiding an oil slick into the collecting trough of a barge.</p> |
