Refuse transfer station for vehicle on platform - has compaction chamber prior to transfer into large container vehicle on ramp with buffer

The refuse transfer station comprises a platform for refuse vehicles and a refuse compacter with a drop shaft pressure head and compacting chamber. A ramp provides access for a large container vehicle. The platform side adjoining the drop shaft has a support which does not absorb horizontal forces whilst the approach side is rigidly supported on the underground. The non-stationary ramp has a buffer so that any horizontal forces arising from contact by the vehicle are frictionally transferred to the ground. The compacter is carried on the ground via an independent frame. The chamber is releasably coupled to the vehicle during compacting.
