The motor for an electrically driven vehicle has inner and outer sets of permanent magnets (1,2) mounted to rotate with a drive shaft (7) through the middle. The outer magnets (1) are mounted inside a cup-shaped carrier (6) and the inner magnets (2) are on a flanged sleeve (5) both mounted on the shaft. Between them are amative windings (3) wound onto radial supports (4) forming segments of the armature supported by a member (9) in the end wall of the housing (8). The flanged end of the sleeve and the outer carrier act as magnetic yokes for the permanent magnets. The windings are fed with pulses to form the drive using remote excitation, and the movement of the vehicle may be used by rotation of the magnetic field around the stator to recharge the batteries when used with a rectifier. The inner magnetic poles can be adjusted in position against the outer magnetic poles.
|
