The animal feeding unit has a rotary pump and a dosing valve with a sliding dosing piston, controlled pneumatically. The opening or closure time for the valve is controlled via an electronic timing relay, the valves themselves being located within the sty or shed their control circuits lying outside this area. An unlimited number of dosing valves can be arranged sequentially with a timing relay associated with each of them. The opening time of the valves multiplied by the pump load per unit of time provides the output quantity for each valve discharge.
