Blind rivet for different thicknesses - has portion of bore of increased diameter clear of shank end

The blind rivet is for use with components of different thicknesses. It has a setting head and a shank with a portion of reduced wall thickness, and also a tension mandrel. The bore (3) has a portion (3b) of increased dia. (d2) in the shank (2) at a point clear of the free end of the latter, typically formed by a step (4) approx. halfway along, and extending to the surface of the head (1). Both portions of the bore can be parallel, or alternatively that leading to the head can widen in a cone towards the latter.
