<p>The present invention relates to a reversible seat in which the seat back is movable from a first position at one end of the seat cushion, across the upper surface of the seat cushion, to a second position at the other end of the seat cushion, with the seat back remaining in a substantially vertical disposition throughout the movement. Such seats usually include means to change the inclination of the seat cushion in response to movement of the seat back. The bottom of the seat is usually latched so as to prevent removal from the supporting frame. However, the common form of latching means is a single latch which does not prevent tilting movement of the seat which may be experienced by the occupant. The bottom surface of the seat of the present invention includes locking means which cooperates with latching means attached to the frame supporting the seat. With the backrest in either the first position or the second position the locking means is engaged with the latching means and prevents removal of the seat from the supporting frame. With the backrest located in an intermediate position between the first position and the second position, the seat is readily removable from the supporting frame. The locking means takes the form of one locking member located adjacent to the forward edge of the seat with a separate locking member located adjacent to the rearward edge of the seat so as to positively lock the seat in position.</p> |
