PURPOSE: To prepare a pharmaceutical composition in the form of a solid unit dosage form, comprising specific amounts of piperidinoalkanol compounds, a nonionic surfactant and CaCO3 , capable of manifesting rapid release characteristics of the active ingredients and useful as an antihistaminic agent, etc. CONSTITUTION: This pharmaceutical composition comprises a therapeutically effective amount (10-150mg based on the unit dose) of piperidinoalkanol compounds, e.g. a compound represented by formula I or II [R1 is H or OH; R2 is H or, together with R1 , forms the second bond; Z is thienyl or a (substituted)phenyl; R3 is CH3 or CH2 OH; A and B are each H or OH and at least one thereof is H; (n) is 1-3; (m) is 1-5], especially α-[4-(1,1-dimethylethyl) phenyl]-4-(hydroxydiphenylmethyl)-1-piperidinebutanol, a nonionic surfactant in an amount of about 0.1-6wt.% based on the composition and CaCO3 in an amount of about 2-50wt.% based on the composition as active ingredients. The composition is capable of manifesting even effective dissolving characteristics and the active ingredients can efficiently be utilized for organisms. |
