PURPOSE:To exactly purge unburnt gas by forming in a piston or a piston ring many blowby passages which connects a crankcase to a circular clearance between the external face of a top land on a piston and the internal face of a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:In an internal combustion engine, many grooves 2 are circumferentially formed at specific intervals in the external face of a piston ring 1, extending in the axial direction of the ring. Each groove 2 has fine sectional area and allows unburnt gas to be discharged as blow-by gas to a crankcase. |
