<p>S P E C I F I C A T I O N RELEASABLE HANDLE FASTENING FOR A CLEANING APPLIANCE A device for releasable fastening a handle to a cleaning appliance, such as a broom, scrubber, window wiper or the like, comprises two fork arms for engagement in holes in the back portion of the appliance, the ends of the fork arms being bent over to engage behind undercuts forming part of each hole. The fork arms are secured by a clamping arrangement, various forms of which are described: threaded sleeves on the fork arms, bearing against the back portion; and eccentric device acting between the back portion and a bridge member of the fork arms; a cam surface on a rotatable peg acting between the back portion and the fork arms; a nut on the free end of one fork arm which extends, inclined, through an intermediate member on the lower end of the handle; an eccentric device acting between the free ends of the fork arms within a cavity in such intermediate member; or a pair of pins on such member, to which the fork arms are pivotable connected so that the clamping is effected by moving the handle from a inclined position to an upright position in which a locking device is applied.</p> |
