PURPOSE:To improve the operating reliability and life of a monolith catalyzer converter by forming a radially extending projection on an inner surface of an annular seal member provided on an end of a catalyzer carrier so as to prevent the seal member from being removed from the catalyzer carrier. CONSTITUTION:An annular seal member 105 has radially extending projections 105a formed on an inner surface thereof. The annular seal member 105 has a pair of such projections 105a disposed on a diametrical line thereof, but it may have three or more projections 105a disposed in circumferentially equally spaced relationship. As it is desirable that an area of an exposed end face of a catalyzer carrier 1 is as large as possible, the total area of the projections 105a is preferably made as small as possible within a range that the seal member 105 is not removed from the end face of the carrier 1 even when the seal member 105 is expanded by heat. By such construction, the seal member 105 can be prevented from being removed from the end portion of the carrier 1. |
