摘要 The invention relates to a combustion engine with rotating cylinder block and adapted to continuous combustion at constant volume. The engine incorporates at least one radial piston compressor 34, 40, at least one radial expansion cylinder 140 with piston 132 together with a means 78 to supply fuel to the combustion chamber 80. The characterising feature of the invention is a novel arrangement of compressor and expander section manifolds with control means for admission and discharge to and from the compressor and expander sections. Power output is realized when opposed expander pistons 140 equipped with cam rollers in direct abutment on the internal cam lobes 120 of a stationary housing cause the cylinder block to rotate and drive the compressor pistons 40 inwardly or outwardly as their roller followers engage their cam tracks. Compressed air is delivered and mixed with hydrocarbon in the combustion chamber, and a corresponding amount of combustion products under almost equal pressure are received by the cylinder(s) of the expander section. At completed charging with compressed air or combustion gases under pressure, respectively, both compressor and expander sections are momentarily disconnected from the combustion chamber. The isolated combustion process continues, at constant volume, causing a pressure rise until the expander admission valves open again. Mechanical work is produced as the expander pistons are moved outwardly, which initially takes place under almost constant pressure in the combustion chamber, following which the pressure decreases as the expander pistons continue to expand the combustion product after the expander admission valves have closed. A discharge stroke is commenced by the expander piston after completing the expansion stroke, whereby the piston returns to the inner dead centre position. Simultaneously, a new charge of ambient air is induced into the compressor as the compressor piston moves outwardly to the outer dead centre position, and the working cycle is repeated by compression of the air and discharge of the compressed air to the combustion chamber. <IMAGE>
