The apparatus comprises a rigid watering-water container (1) with a water outlet (5) and an air-inlet channel (7). The latter connects the space (8) in the interior of the watering-water container (1), via the level of the watering water (6) which has been introduced, to the interior of a blocking-water container (4) which is located beneath the water outlet (5) and has an evaporation opening (10). If the level of the blocking water (9) in the blocking-water container (4) is located above the lower end (11) of the air-inlet channel (7), the watering water (6) is prevented from being discharged. After evaporation of the blocking water (9) through the opening (10) to a level beneath the lower end (11) of the air-inlet channel (7), the watering water (6) is discharged through the water outlet (5) as a result of air entering into the watering-water container (1). By using a bung-like connecting piece (2), household bottles may be used as watering-water container (1). The apparatus permits the watering water (6) to be discharged either directly into the plant substrate (3) or into a reservoir beneath the plant-substrate receptacle. By means of the apparatus, it is possible to predetermine, in an accurate and simple manner, the quantity of watering water and the point in time at which each plant is to be watered. <IMAGE>
