PURPOSE:To obtain the titled emulsion showing high developing speed and high fixing speed by using specified mixed silver halide consisting of silver iodobromide polyhedral crystals and silver halide crystals formed on the polyhedral crystals by epitaxial junction. CONSTITUTION:Silver halide crystals contg. 10mol% or less of silver iodide are epitaxial-joined onto silver iodobromide polyhedral crystals, as crystal matrix, uniformly contg. 15-40mol% of silver iodide by a simultaneous mixing method of a water soluble halide-contg. soln. and a silver salt soln. to form mixed silver halide in which no epitaxial silver halide is present on half or more of the polyhedral crystal surfaces and epitaxial silver halide occupies 75mol% or less of the whole silver halide. The mixed silver halide is then dispersed in hydrophilic colloid such as gelatin or polysaccharide as a binder, and photographic additive is added to the dispersion to obtain a silver halide photographic emulsion. |
