PURPOSE:To form a corrosion resistant film of whitish tone on the surface of Al alloy casting by a simple method, the film which has been difficult to be formed until now, by treating Al alloy casting in water contg. limited quantities of triethanolamine and sodium silicate. CONSTITUTION:Treatment of Al alloy casting in water contg. 0.1-1wt% triethanolamine and 0.05-2wt% sodium silicate (0.5-2 time the content of triethanolamine), or in water contg. 0.05-1wt% triethanolamine, 0.05-4wt% sodium silicate and 0.025-2wt% EDTA (0.5-2 time the content of sodium silicate) forms coating having excellent appearance and corrosion resistance, which has been difficult to be formed until now. |
