PURPOSE:To improve colour display performance and prevent the deterioration of electrical and optical characteristics by setting the dimension of the sealed part at least on the side where the coldest point is formed of a luminous bulb. CONSTITUTION:Inside an outer bulb 1, inert gas is sealed. Into a luminous bulb 18, the main electrodes 4 and 7 are inserted which are connected with the outside leads 2 and 5 at the both ends of the luminous bulb 18 through molybdenum foils 3 and 6. At both end parts of the luminous bulb 18, the selaed parts 12 and 13 in tail fin form are formed. The dimension of the sealed part 12 at least on the side where the coldest point is formed of the luminous bulb 18 is set as follows: If the size of the projection area in the direction of pressing of the sealed part is S cm<2>, and the rated power consupmtion of the luminous bulb is WLW, 0.005WL+ 0.5<=S<=0.009WL+0.9 is formed. |
