The barrier has profiled holding parts (5) vertically positioned on bases. Between the holding parts (1), at least two-layered wall pieces (3) with at least on sound-absorbing outer layer (13) and a stabilising inner layer (11) are fitted in a destruction-free dismantlable manner. The wall pieces are profiled on the upper and-or lower long sides, and are provided particularly with parts of a tongued and grooved connection, in order to connect the wall pieces to one another and-or with connecting components (9,21) in a positive engagement manner. In the upper side area of the wall piece a coupling part (23) is arranged, which holds the wall piece in the profile of the vertical holding part and the vertical expansion of which is so short that the upper edge of the wall piece on insertion in adjoining holding parts rises only slightly above the upper end.
