APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING WEIGHT OF SOLID MATERIAL

An apparatus and method useful to control the weight of a solid material, such as a tablet and a ceramic product. A plurality of solid materials the target weight per piece of which is X are collected by a collecting means (15), and the weight W of these materials is measured with a weight measuring means (19). The results of this measurement are judged as to whether or not they satisfy the expression n x (X-D)n x (X+D), (wherein n is only one integer satisfying W/(X+D)X and a deviation control width +/-D with respect to the target weight, and, when an affirmative judgement is given, the average weight (W/n) of the solid materials is computed by a computing means. These apparatus and method are useful for calculating the average weight of solid materials speedily, eliminating a problem of the occurrence of the imperfect controlling of the weight of solid materials which is ascribed to a counting error, and controlling the weight of solid materials accurately.
