The heat exchanger (1) is provided with at least one heat carrier line (3) for guiding a heat carrier medium, at least one part of the wall (5) of the heat carrier line (3) being designed as a heat exchanger wall. In the known heat exchangers (1) the heat carrier line (3) is a simple pipeline of circular cross-section which is laid, possibly in coiled lines, inside a liquid container (2). As a consequence of the crystallisation, it is possible for strong mechanical stresses to occur on the heat exchanger (1) and also on the surrounding liquid container (2). The aim is to avoid these. For this purpose, the heat exchanger wall is subdivided into crystallisation regions and into isolation regions (8) which separate the crystallisation regions (7) from one another. The heat exchanger wall can, in particular in the crystallisation regions (7) consist of a material facilitating the formation of crystals, or can be coated with such a material. <IMAGE>
