PURPOSE:To provide a denitrification catalyst structure body having excellent heat resistance, durability, a large waste gas-contacting area per unit volume, good catalyst-carrying property, and honeycomb structure of inorganic fibers hardened by a permeable hardening agent. CONSTITUTION:Inorganic fibers (e.g., asbestos cloth or silica glass cloth) are impregnated with a permeable hardening agent (e.g., silica sol), placed in a mold and dried so that a honeycomb element plate 1 as shown in the figure is formed. The element plate is then overlaid and laminated by use of a sodium silicate adhesive to form a honeycomb structure. Next, the honeycomb structure is impregnated with ethyl silicate, for example, and is subjected to hydrolysis under high-pressure steam to cause the ethyl silicate to be gelled, so that the desired denitrification catalyst structure is produced. |
