PURPOSE:To prevent the move of a printing head due to vibrations, external force, etc. by a method wherein a coil is energized when the printing head does not operate and the printing head is retained in a fixed position such as an end part in a recording device using a linear motor. CONSTITUTION:After a carriage CA returns to the vicinity of a cap KP positioned in the right end part after printing being ended, for instance, a wave form driving in BACK direction is inputted in a BACK terminal to electrify the coil C of the carriage CA, thus the force pressing the carriage CA to the right end part being given continuously. By this, the carriage CA can be retained in a fixed position even when any vibrations are given from outside. EFFECT:No carriage retaining means such as a solenoid for exclusive use is required. |
